Moscow to Beijing on the Trans-Siberian Railway

In May of 2011, my son and I traveled from Moscow to Beijing on the Trans-Siberian Railway.   This is the story of our 20 day trip and some of the unusual experiences we had.  We decided to plan the trip ourselves instead of booking a tour.  We wanted to see cities like Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Tomsk, Irkutsk and Ulaanbaatar instead of traveling straight through on a single train ticket.   We also used the bus to travel some of the back roads of Siberia and Mongolia.  You can read about our trip in the Travel Journal.  Photo highlights are available in the Photo Gallery.
